Dancing Through Life: Apeksha Niranjan’s Journey in Bharatnatyam
Apeksha Niranjan‘s dance journey began at a young age. When she was 7 years old, she started learning kathak. Both her parents recognized her immense talent and dedication. They encouraged and supported her and continue to do so even today. She choreographed a dance for her school at the tender age of 8yrs. She later felt drawn to Bharatnatyam and commenced training in Bharatanatyam.Her universal love for dance and music made her explore many dances like bollywood, lavani, western dance, Maharashtrian folk dances, while learning Bharatnatyam.
Mastering Movement: Apeksha’s Further Education in Dance
Post marriage she continued her training under the guidance of distinguished mentors such as Guru Dr. Sucheta Chapekar and Dr. Alka Lajmi, in the Tanjavur bani. She has also learned some rare and unique compositions of Maharaj Shahji the second and Maharaj Sarfoji the second, of Tanjavur, from her gurus. She holds a Master’s degrees from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharv Mahavidyalay Mandal in Mumbai and has completed the Parangat Diploma, with the first position from Nalanda Dance Research Centre, Mumbai. Along with Bharatnatyam, she has learnt the innovative dance style called Nrityaganga, created by Dr. Sucheta Chaphekar, which is a synthesized dance style of Bharatnatyam on Hindustani Classical Music. She has since honed her craft with unwavering dedication and passion and continues to learn more as she believes Learning is a life-long process.
Spreading the Light of Bharatnatyam
Apeksha is the Founder and Director of Nrityanjali performing Arts a Bharatnatyam institute at Navi Mumbai, from the last 19 years.
She aims to spread the knowledge of Bharatnatyam all over the world and has conducted many workshops and lecture demonstrations in India, Italy, Poland, Canada and Thailand. She conducts Bharatnatyam workshops for Beginners and Advanced students and her Lecture Demonstrations are tailor made to suit varied themes.
